Posted by Cory

Fellow reader Rolando brought these two sites to my attention. They are for the upcoming game Batman: Arkham Asylum the two sites look really nice, and it is a part of the viral marketing that was used for Dark Knight.

ARKHAM CARE OFFICIAL GOTHAM CITY WEB SITE

Thanks again to Rolando for these great sites!

just a reminder the game will be on the streets August 25th for North America and the 28th in Europe. When the game comes out we will have will ask our readers to give their thoughts on the game, sadly i don't have a Xbox 360 or a PC that is capable of handling it so i will have to hear how awesome the game is from everyone else.

Gotham Knights is Back Online!

Posted by Cory

Hello Fellow Batman Fans:

I am pleased to announce that Gotham Knights is back ONLINE!!
My name is Cory, and Bob has graciously handed the site over to me, but he will still play a part with the blog.

Gotham Knights has some fantastic people helping with the site, and I hope they will continue, as well offer the chance for others to join.

I do not have any real changes in store for the site Bob did a great job running the blog and keeping it updated and I hope to keep that going. Podcasts are still being planned, reviews will still be posted, and all the Batman news we come across.

If anyone is interested in helping with the site in any way I invite you to email me at gothamknights@att.net or if you have ideas and/or things you like to see please let me know.

Thank you, I appreciate your time and hope you continue to read GOTHAM KNIGHTS ONLINE!

GOTHAM KNIGHTS OFFLINE!

Posted by Unknown

Hey everyone, sorry its been a while, and I've left this to long say!!!

Due to personal circumstances and the limited time that's available to me these days I've got no other choice but to stop GOTHAM KNIGHTS ONLINE.

Difficult decision to make as I've loved every minute doing this site. I've made loads of great friends and had some amazing opportunities to talk with people in the industry, but my time with my family has to come first with other new commitments.

Now if anyone is interested in taking GKO off my hands, I'm more than happy to hand it over to someone who is willing to put some time and effort into running the site, but let me tell you, this isn't any easy thing. Batman is constant, the comics, movies, TV, merchandise and video games news is no easy thing to keep on top of but very enjoyable all the same to report on.

If you are interested send me an email to jondoe297@live.com and I'll organise handing over as well as give you some industry contacts and handy hints on keeping up with all things Batman.

Now here comes the part were I have to say goodbye (for now), and want to thank everyone who has mailed me over recent weeks asking what's happened to the site. I'm glad everyone enjoyed and have loved every minute of it..

Cheers
jondoe297 (Bob)

J.H. WILLIAMS III TALKS ABOUT THE ART FROM DETECTIVE COMICS FEATURING BATWOMAN!

Posted by Unknown

More from J.H. Williams III who has recently sat down with CBR to talk about his work on Detective Comics featuring Batwoman.

CBR: We cannot proceed without stating the fact that “Detective Comics” #854 is beautiful. Can you describe the techniques you are using to create the artwork for this title?

J.H. WILLIAMS III: Thank you so very much. The techniques being used are all over the place depending on what needs doing. Pen and ink, washes, Copic markers, watercolor paint, color pencil, digital color. Some images are a real mixed media of tricks. The rendering on Batwoman herself is applied using Copic markers after I’ve done the ink work. It is applied in a way that picks up a little of the ink layer on the board, blending the two mediums together a little. After that is done, I will then go in with black and white color pencils, and maybe some white ink, for tightening up of details. This amount of work is done quite a bit throughout but really focused on her costume. I’ll add some grey Copic marker tones or washes into backgrounds as well if I feel it needs it. It can get pretty complex sometimes.

After I’ve completed all of the black and white and grey techniques, I will scan the image or page and do some minor tweaking to get the black more dense. This is what [colorist] Dave [Stewart] or myself will do digital color over. On occasion I will paint some panels or portions of covers by hand if there is a certain effect that I want that looks slightly different than the other images. I just did all of the covers for the second arc in where I combined ink work, digital color, and hand-painted techniques into a single image, blending them together. The techniques transition in to each other in interesting and relatively seamless ways. It’s all pretty organic, experimental, challenging, and a lot of fun.

NEWSARAMA: DAN DIDIO 20 Q&A - BATMAN QUESTION!

Posted by Unknown

No so much this time around from the Dan Didio 20 Q&A over at Newsarama, except one relating to the plan we all know is going to happen in regards to Bruce Wayne coming back... just hope its more than a few years!!!

10. Good point. We had a question about the heroes who have come into the books where the title characters have stepped out. What happens if you find out what readers really like Batwoman in Detective, Mon-el in Superman and Flamebird and Nightwing in Action when it’s time for Bruce and Superman to come back home? Is your plan flexible enough to allow for more time, or spinoffs?

DD: That would be the best of both worlds – if we’re able to support the Batman titles or the Superman titles without Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, then that shows the strength of the DC Universe and more importantly, the strength of the characters that are inhabiting those books. So my standpoint is that there is room for all of them, and as their stories progress, we’re going to let them flow according to their natural course, and whether or not Superman reutns sooner or later or how the changes in the Batman books play out – it all gives us hope that we have a lot of untapped potential for stories in the future with the characters that are now in them.

So, we have a long-term plan as for how this goes, but that doesn’t mean that we’re not going to be flexible as to how we play it.

NRAMA: So the return of Bruce Wayne or Superman are set in stone for a specific month or a specific issue?

DD: We have a very strong structure as to how these stories unfold, and that’s probably something that’s not too flexible, but there are a lot of aspects as to how things can progress.

HEATH LEDGER - WANTED TO GET FIRED FROM THE TDK!!!

Posted by Unknown

I'm not sure I like this rumor floating around as it taints the idea that Heath Ledger only did the performance he gave on screen to try and get himself fired but still get paid!

Apparently Vanity Fair is running a cover story in its August issue called "The Last of Heath," where it is implied that Ledger hoped to get fired from the Dark Knight shoot.

"Ledger's friend and agent, Steven Alexander, tells [Vanity Fair] that Heath 'was always hesitant to be in a summer blockbuster, with the dolls and action figures and everything else that comes with one of those movies,'" the story says. "'He was afraid it would define him and limit his choices.' According to friends of Ledger's, one of the reasons he agreed to do Dark Knight was that the unusually long shoot would give him an excuse to turn down other offers."

Again apparently those interviewed say that since Ledger had a pay-or-play deal on the film, meaning he'd get paid no matter what, the actor felt he could do whatever he wanted as the Joker.

"Ledger hoped his performance would be so far-out he'd be fired, and thus become the beneficiary of a lengthy, paid vacation," says the story.

I think Heath Ledger was an amazing character actor and from recent interviews I've read, he put all he gave into this role. Even to the point of creating a Joker diary, with all the twisted things the Joker would do... does that sound like someone who would go to that length to get fired for money!!! No I think not, Vanity Fair should be ashamed of themselves!!!
