After reading about DC's new Earth One universe and seeing Gary Frank's design for Batman I suddenly remembered an issue of Wizard Magazine (#136 back in 2003), that did a feature on what the DC Universe would look like if they did their own Ultimate (Marvel), re-boot. Now I'm all behind this new ongoing universe especially when Geoff Johns is the brains behind the outfit, and the more I think about what DC might be trying to achieve with these new titles the more excited I'm becoming. Wizard even went as a far as creating a new story-line, character profiles and set-up right to #50...

The above image was designed by Draxhall Jump Studio and isn't that far from what Gary Frank has come up with. Commissioner Gordon in the Wizard version is black, not far from Marvel did with Nick Fury (with the Samuel L. Jackson).
