An article from Luxist tells us that, finally, Batman has beaten Superman. At least, as far as the price of rare comic books go. Batman's first appearance in Detective Comics #27 (from May of '39) is up to a massive $418,250, including buyer's premium. That easily beats the previous known record for the sale of a comic book, when John Dolmayan, drummer for the rock band System of a Down, bought a rare copy of Superman's first appearance in Action Comics #1 (from June 1938) for $317,000. And here's the kicker; the end of the auction is still 2 weeks away! The book is one of the finest known copies to to still be around, and was bought by the anonymous seller over 40 years ago for 100 dollars.
