Well sad new from Wondercon today: Greg Rucka is not only leaving Batwoman but also DC...
I will leave it to others to talk about the possible reasons why this has happened, all i will say is it is hugely disappointing.
Mr. Rucka was the first person involved with comics i had the pleasure of interviewing, Bob and I had a incredible time talking to him, his insight, and commentary, made me appreciate not only his writing more but comics in general.
To read on on this news i suggest you go here and here.
So on behalf the the entire Gotham Knights Staff we wish Mr. Rucka the best in the future, he is a friend of the site and we thank him for his friendship, his help and his time.
So what does this mean for Batwoman?
Newsarama reported this:
Rama correspondent Albert Ching has gotten a small WonderCon update on the Mothership about the future of Batwoman, over at the DC Universe Editorial panel:
[DC Senior Story Editor Ian] Sattler: “We have plans for Batwoman.”
[DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff] Johns: “We want Greg (Rucka) to write it, but he’s focusing on his career right now.”
Sattler: “There’s no shelving.”
JH Williams added this:
"I was afraid something like this was going to occur but held out hope that it wouldn't happen. That DC and Greg could come to some sort of agreement, apparently not going to happen. So what does this mean for Batwoman and the project I've spent a decent amount of time and thought on? I don't know. I do know that DC is firmly committed to this character from what I here from them. So where does all of this leave us? I believe DC will want the character to continue somehow. In what form? I'm not sure, but she'll be back, I'm sure of it. This character has too much potential to just go by the wayside. So we should be hearing some sort of news at the appropriate time I assume."
